What I Learned This Week…

The New York Times launches “enhanced bylines,” with more information about how journalists did the reporting

Starting Thursday, New York Times stories online will no longer include a traditional dateline that tells where a story was reported from. Instead, certain stories will have “enhanced bylines” that tells readers more about how journalists did the reporting.

Google plans to use new A.I. models for ads and to help YouTube creators

Google is using AI to make ads and other things on the internet better. They are using a new AI called PaLM 2 to help people make ads and videos. PaLM 2 can help people make better ads and videos by suggesting ideas and giving feedback. Google is also using PaLM 2 to help people make other things on the internet, like titles and descriptions for YouTube videos.

Positive aspects:

  • AI can help people make better ads and videos by suggesting ideas and giving feedback. This can lead to more effective advertising, which can help businesses sell more products and services.

  • AI can help people make other things on the internet, like titles and descriptions for YouTube videos. This can make the internet more informative and engaging for users.

  • AI can help Google to improve its products and services. This can lead to a better user experience for everyone.

Negative aspects:

  • AI could be used to create more targeted and personalized ads, which could lead to people being bombarded with ads that they are not interested in.

  • AI could be used to create more manipulative and persuasive ads, which could lead to people making decisions that are not in their best interests.

  • AI could be used to create more invasive and intrusive ads, which could make people feel like their privacy is being invaded.

Happy Bitcoin Pizza Day!

On May 22, 2010, a dude named Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 Bitcoins for two pizzas from Papa John's. At the time, 10,000 Bitcoins were worth about $41. Today, those same 10,000 Bitcoins would be worth over $260 million.

That day is now known as Bitcoin Pizza Day, and it's a day for cryptocurrency enthusiasts to celebrate the history and potential of Bitcoin. Some people celebrate by eating pizza and talking about Bitcoin, while others buy pizzas with Bitcoin.

So if you're a cryptocurrency enthusiast (like me), be sure to celebrate Bitcoin Pizza Day on May 22! And if you're not a cryptocurrency enthusiast, you can still celebrate by eating pizza.

🍕 Who doesn't love pizza? 🍕
